Alongside the new Final Cut Pro 11 that dropped yesterday, Apple also has a new version of its free Final Cut Camera ready for immediate download to iOS.

Final Cut Camera 1.1 brings some  intuitive pro controls that Apple is aiming at aspiring and professional directors. The update offers iPhone 15 Pro and later users the ability to capture Log-encoded HEVC video in standalone or Live Multicam sessions, so users can take advantage of the increased dynamic range of Log while benefitting from reduced file sizes and even more recording time.

Final Cut Camera also allows users to enable a LUT preview while recording in Log, showcasing the vibrancy of the original scene in SDR or HDR with the Apple Log LUT.

There is a neat new feature allowing users to precisely compose their video using the level with tilt and roll indicators or crosshairs for overhead shots.

With iPhone 16 Pro, users can record beautiful and crisp 4K120 fps footage for even smoother cinematic slow motion, import it into Final Cut Pro for iPad (also upgraded to 2.1) and begin an edit. The ISO range has been expanded to include additional values and there's a handy workflow enhancement now too that allows users to double-tap to reset white balance, manual focus, and exposure settings to default values.
