Vertical video is one of those things that we've pretty much just had to make peace with; TikTok and other social platforms are too important to ignore when it comes to content creation. So, even though we're still thankfully shooting in 16:9, it's always a good choice to bear in mind at least the likely 9:16 destination some of your material is inevitably heading towards.

Chris Wells is your guide to driving the Auto Reframe tools in Adobe Premiere Pro that can help make all this a snap in the edit in our quick tutorial below. But first, he offers a bit of general advice on framing your shots in the first place.

"Avoid too tight a close up and shoot your wides with a bit more room around the frame, so things don't look too squashed in the edit," he says. "If you can, film in a higher resolution than what you're delivering as this gives you even more options for reframing in the edit."
