Virtual production and more with Zero Density at IBC

1 minute read

Zero Density had an even bigger presence on the IBC show floor than in previous years, and as you can see from a quick tour of its booth, there were plenty of good reasons why.

Ralf van Vegten is Chief Marketing Office at Zero Density and, as he says, the company's booth at IBC2024 was a really big booth this year.

That's a reflection both of the success it's having in the visual production sector and the number of new products and innovations it's bringing to the market. There is plenty of deeply interesting stuff here, including a new AI subsystem that can run AI models in its realtime workflow, helping pull off some fairly neat tricks such as producing a live depth mask out of a 2D video.

XR is showcased in front of an LED screen, with ZD mounting ARRI Lite Panels at the front of it to provide light onto the face of the talent to make the scene look more realistic. The new Lino motion design-based system is also showcased, completing the company's ecosystem.

"It opens up Unreal for non-Unreal talent and that's really exciting," says van Vegten. "Motion designers that are familiar with an interface such as Cinema 4D can now also use motion design from Unreal [in Lino] to create Unreal assets and use them for a video wall, overlay graphics, and in virtual production."

There is plenty more to investigate too, and with the Zero Density software now free of charge to any organisations turning over less than $1m a year, plenty of reasons to have a look.
