Venus Optics releases new Silver edition Laowa Nanomorph lens

Venus Optics has announced a new Silver edition of its 1.5x micro anamorphic lens, giving much more neutral coloured lens flare.

Venus Optics released its first Laowa Nanomorph anamorphic lens last month as Blue and Amber models. The lens has a 1.5x anamorphic ratio and uses a patented anamorphic structure to give a consistent anamorphic squeeze over all focus distances. The lens is available in three focal lengths, 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4. It is also available for all major lens mount systems, Canon EF, PL mount, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount, and Fuji X. Apparently these are user interchangeable, so if you change to a different system you will only need to change the mount on the rear of the lens.

The new version of the lens gives a much more neutral coloured lens flare compared to the Blue (pictured below) and Amber editions, giving DPs much more control over how the flaring relates to colour temperature.

The Nanomorph is designed for S35 and MFT sized sensors, so if you run it on a full-frame camera you'll need to switch it into one of the cropped sensor modes to avoid vignetting issues.

Currently the lenses are available at a discounted price on Indiegogo, However on final release the lenses will retail for $999 (Mirrorless Mounts) and $1,499 (EF & PL Mounts). A three-lens bundle with a protective case will also be available for $2,699 (Mirrorless Mounts) and $3,999(EF & PL Mounts). Venus Optics expects the lenses to be shipping in August.

These lenses would appear to be pretty unique in that they promise high quality as well as being extremely compact. In fact they are small enough to be used on drones and even for high quality POV shots.
