The much-anticipated (and furiously leaked) Sony Alpha 1 II is going to be announced later today, with shipping rumoured for early December. Here are the likely main features.
The forthcoming Sony Alpha 1 II is being teased furiously by Sony and others and will be officially unveiled at 09.00 EST on Tuesday November 19th. The pre-event live stream has already been set up, and even resellers have been flagging it up ahead of time in what looks like a classic spoiler operation to undermine the launch of the Canon EOS R1.
We still don't know much about if officially as yet, but the ever-active and usually reliable Sony Alpha Rumours site reckons it has an inside track on the possible specs. These seem to have been confirmed by the typical pre-release leaks (YouTube reviews posted early etc).
- Sony A9III body
- Same 50MP A1 sensor
- Pre-Capture (from 0.03 up to 1 secs)
- 3.2 inch vari angle screen
- 8 stops stabilization (Sony A1 has 5.5 stops)
- 30fps
- 8k30p
- AI chip which allows it to have all the A9III goodies like accurate subject recognition, improved AF and so forth
- New 4.0 CFexpress Type A card for faster buffering (this is now considered to be only a 50/50 chance)
- Price €7499 ($ pricing uncertain, recently these have been the same though from other manufacturers)
We will know more later today.
