Available in two different versions, one for selected Canon & Blackmagic cameras, the other for Sony mirrorless cameras, SmallRig’s new Rotating Side Handle promises users a secure grip and ‘effortless camera’ control.
The new Rotating Side Handle with Trigger REC is one of the latest products to come off the ever-active SmallRig production line.
Engineered with an ergonomic design, it promises smooth and effortless camera control that SmallRig says is capable of reducing hand fatigue during extended shooting sessions.
Featuring a built-in shutter control and an included control cable, users can start and stop recording without touching the camera. SmallRig says that smooth camera movements at any angle are possible with the one-click stepless rotation feature, while it is also usefully equipped with a USB-C power output that supports Power Delivery (PD) fast charging.
It’s been designed with 1/4"-20 threaded holes, a cold shoe mount, and a wrist strap slot, allowing the attachment of accessories such as monitors, fill lights, and wrist straps to further customize setups.
The recording function is compatible with Sony Alpha 1 / Alpha 7 / Alpha 9 series, FX3 & FX30, Canon EOS, and Blackmagic Design BMPCC series units. When it comes to Canon EOS and BMPCC cameras, NP-F550 / 570 batteries are required to enable the REC functions. Other cameras can operate without batteries.
The Rotating Side Handle with Trigger REC for Canon and Blackmagic is $134.99, the Sony-compatible model is $129.99.
