Want to remotely control your DJI RS series gimbal? Smallrig has just released what looks to be an impressively engineered solution to do just that.
Capable of driving the DJI RS2, RS3 Pro, RS4, and RS4 Pro stabilizers from up to 100 meters away (328 feet), the new Gimbal Control Wheels for DJI RS Series aren't exactly cheap at $899. But set against that they offer some very decent functionality and they just look, well, very properly engineered.
The unit weighs 2.76kg / 6.06lb, suggesting there is also a pleasing solidity to the whole thing. The control panel features individual knobs for speed, smoothness, damping adjustments, direction control levers, and TRP axis adjustment, while that damping adjustment allows for the fine-tuning of damping levels for various different shooting scenarios.
It supports dual power supply, NP-F and USB-C, while expansion interfaces enable the attachment of monitor mounts and magic arms for real-time monitoring and flexible setup.
Given the boost that use of this sort of tech is going to achieve following the high-profile deployment of the DJI Ronin D on Adolescence as the A-camera Smallrig is having to point out to users that this is for the DJI RS series and the DJI RS series alone. But given the pace at which it develops and launches new products, we wouldn't be surprised to see a solution for that too being launched fairly soon.
