Following an IBC debut last month, the SmallRig RC 220B Pro LED Video Light is now available for order from $329.

The SmallRig RC 220B Pro looked impressive when it previewed at IBC last month so it's good to see it hit the shelves in good time. The lens and light source provide the same output as its RC 200B predecessor, but do it with a lower power consumption.

The bi-color version will throw out 9180 Lux, the daylight model 10,500.

The adapter and light body are connected via a V-mount quick release mechanism, enabling swift attachment and convenient storage. SmallRig says the adapter features an integrated gallium nitride chip for reduced size, making it 37.5% shorter in length compared to the previous generation. That also adds a handy 4% increase in conversion efficiency.

A customized optical lens design results in a 10% decrease in power consumption compared to the previous generation while maintaining the same brightness. It also incorporates the company's Three Times Optics system for high brightness, uniform light distribution, and a high color rendering index of 95+.

A new COB light source ensures consistent color temperature throughout (DUV value of ±0.0015), minimizing color deviation within the effective color temperature range of 2700 to 6500K.

As well as the adaptor, it will also run off V Mount batteries, and NP-F970 rechargeables (though this requires a NPF adapter and throttles input to 60W from the 220W maximum), providing three versatile power supply options. A built-in display screen shows useful data such as brightness, power remaining, AC power supply connected, wireless frequency, etc. It's quiet too, running at 28dB at 100% output.

It offers both local and wireless app control, along with software control and DMX capabilities. This allows for the simultaneous management of multiple SmallRig lights, ensuring extended signal coverage and control distance.

One neat addition is that the support column features a damping design to facilitate gradual descent of the light when mounted. The usual Bowens standard mount means plenty of accessories can be utilised.

Pricing starts at $329 for the Daylight version and $369 for the Bi-color.
