Sirui has unveiled the Aurora 85mm f/1.4, an autofocus prime lens designed for full-frame cameras and available for Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Fujifilm X-mount.

The new Sirui Aurora 85mm f/1.4 lens is currently available for pre-order at $499 (normal price $599) directly from Sirui’s website, with shipping expected in the middle of next month. It consists of 14 elements arranged in nine groups, including one aspherical lens, two extra-low dispersion lenses, and three high refractive index glass elements. Sirui reckons this design minimizes aberrations and effectively controls flare and ghosting while providing contrast for clear images even in backlit conditions.

This is the first lens in a projected series and the aperture range spans from f/1.4 to f/16 using a 15-bladed diaphragm. It has an 85 mm focal length and the lens utilizes a stepping motor for fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus capabilities. It supports eye-AF and object tracking for both still portraits and fast-moving subjects.

Weight is only 540 grams (19.05 oz). The body is built of aluminum alloy and the front lens is coated with antifouling fluorine to reduce oil stain and dust. A dustproof and waterproof design prevents dust or water ingress. This is aided with an included lens hood.

Additional features include an AFL focus lock button, an AF/MF switch, and an aperture ring that can be toggled between clicked and de-clicked modes for photo or video use.

A comprehensive list of compatible Sony cameras is available on the lens website, with a compatibility list for Nikon and Fujifilm cameras expected soon.
