Prolycht launches RGBACL Orion 675 FS

2 minute read
The new RGBACL Orion 675 FS from Prolycht

Prolycht’s latest is the Orion 675 FS full spectrum RGBACL colour spotlight, billed as significantly brighter than a 1200w HMI fixture.

Making its debut at the LVCC this weekend is the Orion 675 FS. And it’s not just billed as significantly brighter than a 1200w HMI fixture; Prolycht is going even further and stating that it’s the “most powerful fully color-tunable spotlight in the world.”

It’s a big claim, but there’s some very decent tech backing it up.

The Orion 675 FS utilizes a 6-color LED Hyperlight Color engine mixing Red, Green, Blue, Amber, Cyan and Lime to create a wider color gamut with what the company says is excellent fidelity. Skin tone reproduction is accurate, and the RGBACL setup provides extremely good flexibility in spectrum matching with an extended color temperature range from 1,800K-20,000K and precision control of all color channels throughout.

Boasting a single-body construction, it weighs in at 21 pounds (9.45 kgs), making it lighter than comparable lights and some COB type lampheads with separate ballasts. A high IP rating means that it can also be used outdoors in inclement weather. Power comes from AC or a 48v battery, with AC pass-through power for ease of use.

An angled yoke allows greater tilt range when light modifiers such as soft boxes are attached, while is is also reversible for better balance on light stands if heavy lens accessories are used. The yoke is quick-release mounted for easier storage and includes 1/4 20 threaded sockets for mounting future accessories.

Five color modes allow control of the light’s spectrum, while Source mode includes presets to replicate the output of more than 40 types of light sources, and an Effects mode features a variety of multicolor effects, each with adjustable parameters for colors and timing.

Control is via the fixture itself, through DMX, CRMX LumenRadio, ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth Mesh. ArtNet is also fully supported.

So, just how bright is it against more traditional lights? According to the company, when set to 5600K the Orion is significantly brighter than a 1200w HMI fixture; at 3200K it is equal in output to a classic 5000w tungsten fixture; and compared to LED spotlights, it is brighter than a 600W daylight-only light. And if that wasn’t quite enough for you, Prolycht says that it is also three times brighter than any other manufacturer’s RGBACL spotlight.

For a limited time there is a decent price promotion where customers will be able to pre-order the light for just $2795 (plus local taxes) from Prolycht dealers in USA and Canada, down from a list price of $3495. Similar offers are available in Europe and the UK. All run through to the end of May.
