SmallHD has just released its new Focus 7, the company’s first 7-inch touchscreen monitor which is retailing for an attractive $699.
SmallHD has been marketing its Focus line for a few years now, but this is the first time the company has released a 7-inch model. All the more welcome then to see the touchscreen enabled new Focus 7 coming in at a fairly reasonable $699.
For that money you get a daylight-viewable 1000 nit Full HD monitor that can accept 4K30p signals, and features 323 pixels per inch on its display. Running the company's latest OS3 firmware, you also get 2x Sony L series battery slots instead of the single slot featured on the Focus 5, while other upgrades from the 5 to 7 include an extra 200 nits, a full-sized (slightly-recessed) HDMI instead of a micro HDMI, and that Full HD as opposed to 720p. Real-time 3D LUTs, monitor profiles, and screen overlays can all be loaded via a full-size SD card slot, while audio output is also available using the monitor’s stereo headphone jack.
There’s the odd accessory available for it too. SmallHD recognises that rigging the slightly bigger form factor can be difficult if you’re trying to maintain a low-profile setup, so there’s a beefed up 7-inch SmallHD Tilt Arm available as part of a Gimbal Accessory Pack.
Weight without battery is 13.6oz (385g). Availability is immediate.
