Boris FX’s new Sapphire 10 Units see the well-regarded VFX plug-in collection offered as eight separate categories with a lower price point starting at $195.
Given that the full suite of tools can cost anything up to $2800, separating them out into individual sets of tools makes good sense for the company and could see the plug-ins getting into quite a few other people's hands. Here’s a brief rundown of the separate units:
Adjust - Basic tools needed for creating stylized color grades and advanced color correction.
Blur - Fast and realistic in-camera blurs and defocus along with a host of tools for sharpening images.
Distort - Powerful lens distortion effects, in-camera shake effects & chromatic aberrations.
Lighting - Simulate natural and synthetic lights.
Render - Textures, gradients, cloud, sky, and lightning effects.
Stylize - Color grades, damage looks, and other high-quality video treatments.
Time - Slow down or speed up time with the Sapphire Optical Flow Retimer and more time-based effects.
Transitions - Transitions with countless presets.
According to Borix FX, Sapphire 10 Units are available as a multi-host license compatible with Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, The Foundry’s NUKE, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, and other supported OFX hosts. Units are available with node-locked license only and require access to the internet.
Prices range from $195 for Adjust up to $595 for Lighting and Transitions.
