64 videos shot on 64 iPhones: the logistics behind the video for Ok Go's song 'A Stone Only Rolls Downhill' are the sort of thing to make your head hurt.
Even if you couldn't hum one of their many tunes if your life depended on it, chances are you know OK Go's work because of the videos they make. Think performing on eight moving treadmills, a three minute shot on a zero gravity plane, a four minute video shot with just four seconds of footage. Yes, that OK Go.
Here's their latest shot on 64 separate iPhones.
The logistics of pulling something like this off, as with any one of the band's more creative videos, are frankly the sort of thing to make your head hurt. “It’s a whole bunch of nested problems,” says lead singer Damian Kulash in the BTS video below. “You’ve got this one big picture that’s made up of 42 little pictures, but one of those actually has another 10 pictures in it and one of those has 14 pictures in it…What do you have to shoot before what?”
As PetaPixel reports, over the course of eight days, the team filmed 1043 takes but that also included 577 hours of preparation and 31 collaborators who helped pull the whole thing together. More BTS below.
