NiSi's new Aureus T1.4 Cine Primes offer budget-friendly, high-performance with fast apertures, full-frame coverage, and seamless intercuts with the Athena Primes range.
Two really fecund areas at NAB this year are lenses and lighting, so stay tuned for plenty of each. This morning, NiSi, who says that its Aureus T1.4 Cine Primes build on the impressive NiSi Athena primes but with faster apertures and enhanced features. They remain budget-friendly too, coming at $2299 each, while 5-Lens sets with case will be available for $9999. Though, as with everything at the moment for our US readers, these figures might well move northwards by the time their July shipping date arrives.
Initially available in 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm focal lengths, the lenses are all the same 90 mm diameter, the same weight and length ( 1300 grams / 2.87 lb and 110 mm / 4.33 in), and provide full-frame coverage with a 46mm image circle. That T1.4 aperture on all of them delivers good low-light performance and shallow depth of field, while NiSi says that users should be able to intercut them with the NiSi Athena primes with no issues
Flange distance at infinity ranges from 16.1mm-19.8mm across the set, ensuring seamless integration with all PL-mount cameras. The set features unified design features, consistent focus and iris ring positions, a common front diameter, and optional dual-scale focus markings in feet and meters for added convenience on set. And the built-in rear filter system allows for quick customization with ND, diffusion, or specialty filters, enabling filmmakers to achieve their desired look without requiring additional front-mounted filters.
