The new NiSi JetMag Pro Magnetic Filter System still lends itself to fast swapping but takes a belt and braces approach to stability.
NiSi has been on a roll lately, with several lens releases including its ATHENA set of prime lenses and more. It’s recently announced the JetMag Pro Magnetic Filter System, which allows a variety of useful and creative filters to quickly attach to lenses via magnets.
Changing out filters can sometimes take time, depending on the system you're using. Magnetic filters make it a snap, literally: You attach a filter to your camera's lens magnetically, and voilà, you're ready to shoot.
What makes NiSi JetMag Pro Magnetic Filter System different from other magnetic filters is its patented locking system, which goes beyond just the magnetic attachment. It provides more stability (by rotating the small handle to the marked position), and is especially handy when in a run-and-gun filming or photography situation.
Features include:
- Constructed with an all-aluminum frame and premium optical glass.
- Nano-Coating Technology cuts down on glare and improves overall image quality.
- Two small handles to attach and remove the filters quickly while providing stability while on the lens.
- Filters include: ND (3, 6, 10 stops), Pro Filmmaker, Black Mist, Pro Cinema, Pro Night, and Pro Capture.
- Available in 62mm, 72mm, 77mm, and 82mm thread sizes. More sizes coming soon (40.5mm, 95mm, and others).
- Ability to securely lock multiple filters on a lens; up to two 'ultra slim' filters can be used on a 15mm without any vignetting, for example.
- Adapter to allow for different filter threads.
- Handles are mutli-colored to organize and locate filters quickly.
- Front and rear lens caps can also be attached and removed rapidly.
Filters are very important to help cut down on brightness and glare, protect pricey lenses, and add creative choices. The NiSi JetPro Magnetic Filter System provides a nice variety of filters that can be attached and removed quickly, and will be very secure and stable while filming. I like that the handles on each filter are different colors to make organizing better and locating the right filter easier.
Filters start at $89.99 and you can purchase individually or in a bundle. Check out NiSi's website for all the filters along with accessories, like the NiSi JetMag Caddy to carry them.
