Nexus G1 Project mini update, bigger news on the way

Nexus G1 Project chief, Thomas Boland, has delivered a mini update on the eagerly-anticipated camera that hints at much bigger news dropping in the next few weeks.
It's been a while since we had an update on the Nexus G1 Project, when it introduced a very interesting looking auto lock system, but head man Thomas Boland has just popped up on the forthcoming camera's Facebook feed with update #6.
And it looks like the project has changed a bit.
"We have been working hard on the Nexus G1 design, both the exterior body, the electronics, integration of the AutoLock MFT mount, and the insides that make it all work. We are extremely excited to say that the latest design of the Nexus G1 has come together beautifully, and is absolutely mind-blowing," he writes.
"The latest design resembles the original concept, but is way better. We have taken in everyone’s feedback and advanced the Nexus G1 to a whole new level – It is functionally awesome, far better than the original concept, and looks stunning."
Which all sounds rather good to us. Boland writes that the camera has been heavily upgraded. Rather than being made of plastic, the body is now entirely magnesium alloy and carbon fiber, which he says makes it agreeably both ultra-strong and lightweight at the same time.
That raises two questions from what we can see. Can the camera still hit its end of 2024 availability target? And can it do that and still cost $3000? Hopefully, we'll find out soon.
"In about two weeks we will be ready to release the new Nexus film, which will show off all the new features, body design, accessories, and the prototype," says Boland. "Thanks so much everyone for following and supporting the project!! Things are about to get very exciting.
