This week's round up of stories sees a new AI tool for Adobe Stock, a macOS port for Filmlight, a new tripod from Tilta, and more.

Adobe has added a new AI-powered feature to Adobe Stock (above). Customize allows users to search and discover unique, high-quality content from over 700 million assets available for creators, and then iterate and refine it faster using generative AI. It allows users to refine multiple images at once, for instance, by changing aspect ratios to match the format of a project or harmonizing the style of a number of images. Usefully users can see the history of their search results and AI refinements, with the newest stacked on top so you can shuffle through them to find the one you remember you liked 10 minutes ago.

tilta BT05

The $229 Tilta BT05 Travel Ball Head with 3-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs comes equipped with a robust ball head that supports up to 44lbs / 20kg and includes a slot for 90° vertical shooting, allowing for seamless transitions between horizontal, vertical, and overhead configurations.

An Arca quick release plate mounts securely to most cameras and camera cages via a 1/4″-20 screw. Many of the company’s numerous camera cages are natively compatible and the new expanded design makes the receiver compatible with almost every Arca Plate on the market.

Featuring a sleek, center column-free design, Tilta says the tripod excels in tight spaces and low-angle shots. Crafted from high-strength, 10-layer diamond cross-woven carbon fiber, these tripod legs ensure robust stability while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Height range varies from under 10 inches (254 mm) up to a maximum height of 63 inches (1.4 metres).

Designed with flexibility in mind, it boasts multiple mounting points for seamless integration of additional accessories like smartphone clamps, iPad holders, or articulating arms via multiple 1/4″-20 threads with locating points. Innovative features such as a semi-automatic angle adjustment system and a detachable carbon fiber column allow for quick setup and customizable shooting angles.

Filmlight has ported Baselight S and Baselight M, the software-only subscription versions of its powerful Baselight grading solution, over to the macOS platform. The new solutions offer the same advanced features as high-end Baselight Linux Baselight S is the budget-friendly option for the independent freelance colourist, while Baselight M is designed for facilities that require multi-user interconnectivity.

Baselight for macOS is also compatible with FilmLight’s Slate control surface as well as external control panels such as the Tangent Wave and Element panels; Baselight M also supports Blackboard Classic.

Ana Escorse, freelance colourist in Toronto, was part of the Baselight for macOS beta programme. “Baselight runs seamlessly with Apple’s CPU/GPU architecture, making it a real ‘plug and play’ solution,” she says. “It has allowed me to begin working immediately without compromising quality and it gives me more than enough performance for my workflow – allowing me to work off 8K footage with ease.”

Insta360 Ace Pro 2-Close-up 1

The partnership between Insta360 and Leica has been extended. As DP Review details, the two first teamed up in January 2020 with the Insta360 One R action camera. More recently, they collaborated on the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 (above). That went down rather well with many people, so expect to see more of the same. "The renewal of this partnership signals an exciting future for creators and action camera enthusiasts alike,” said a prepared statement. “With Leica’s legacy in optics and Insta360’s expertise in imaging technology, the next generation of cameras will continue to set new benchmarks in performance and creativity.”
