New carbon fiber tripods from Tilta

A trio of new tripods from Tilta, include the VT05 carbon fiber travel tripod and two variants of the BT03 table top tripod.

We’ll start with the VTO5, which rejoices in the full name of the VT05 Travel Video Fluid Head Tripod with 3-Stage Carbon Fiber Legs. It’s built from high-strength, 10-layer diamond cross-woven carbon fiber, which ensures robust stability while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Those legs easily transition between rubber feet and metal spikes with a simple twist.

It features multiple mounting points for seamless integration of additional accessories like smartphone clamps, iPad holders, or articulating arms via multiple 1/4″-20 threads with locating points.A precision-engineered fluid head supports up to 11 lbs / 5 kg, delivering smooth, precise movements. The ARCA Receiver and included Quick Release Plate means the Fluid Head is compatible with most camera systems or cages.

Innovative features such as a semi-automatic angle adjustment system and a detachable carbon fiber column allow for quick setup and customizable shooting angles. With a height range of just under 10 inches (230 mm) up to a maximum height of 5.91 ft (1600 mm) these legs offer extreme flexibility. The price is agreeable too, coming in at a nicely lightweight $299.

The BT03 Tabletop Ball Head with 1-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs costs $99 and comes equipped with a robust ball head that supports up to 6.6 lbs / 3 kg and includes a slot for 90° vertical shooting, allowing for seamless transitions between horizontal, vertical, and overhead configurations. Again, an Arca quick release plate mounts securely to most cameras and camera cages via a 1/4″-20 screw. Tilta points out that many of its camera cages (and it makes a lot of them) are natively compatible.

A center column-free design makes it useful in tight spaces and low-angle shots; three adjustable leg angles enable various creative perspectives.

It’s made from the same multi-layered diamond cross-woven carbon fiber as the VT05, making it both durable,  lightweight, and ideal for an everyday carry.

Its two-section legs extend up to 13.7″ and the twist-lock mechanism facilitates quick and precise height adjustments. This can be paired with an optional extension rod for added height (which is essentially the third variant mentioned, the $109 BT03E).

Additionally, the handle telescopes to various lengths for added comfort, while the legs feature 1/4″-20 mounting points with locating pins, allowing users to mount various accessories.

The BT03 weighs 09.4 lbs / 428 g, or 1.07 lbs / 485 g with the extension rod. Max height is 21.9 inches (555 mm) with the extension rod, while the minimum is 10.83 inches (275 mm).
