The new Nanlux Evoke 5000B is a stormproof bi-color spotlight with 5000W power, impressive light quality, and advanced control features, designed for professional production.
The new Nanlux Evoke 5000B couples an impressive output with 5000W power draw, a color temperature range of 2700K-6500K, +/- 80 Green/Magenta adjustment, excellent light quality, an IP66 rating, and the self-developed Nebula B4 Light Engine, all in one fixture. It also supports a variety of control methods, making it a decent bet for professional production.
At its heart is the self-developed Nebula B4 Light Engine. This not only ensures the white light efficiency, but also provides that color temperature range of 2700K-6500K and +/- 80 Green/Magenta adjustment. Output is 22,210 lux @ 5 metres. Nanlux claims it is the only bi-color light fixture at this power level so far that can adjust both color temperature and green/magenta values.
That theoretically makes it quick and easy to match other light sources on-set or achieve a specific look, and a good alternative to traditional fixtures that rely on gels and repeated adjustments.
The built-in professional CSP chips and ultra-high LED light efficiency enable the Evoke 5000B to produce extraordinary illuminance, approaching that of a 9kW HMI or 24kW tungsten light.
The lamp head, control unit, and power supply are all integrated into one fixture, reducing both the total weight and size compared to any other light that splits all that into separate units. Fixture management is simpler and more organized as a result, while that also helps contribute to an IP66-rated housing, enabling it to withstand extreme weather conditions.
Built using high-strength magnesium alloy, it weighs only 46kg/101lb (with yoke). That yoke is designed with a disc brake, providing more grip strength that prevents the fixture from accidentally tilting once the angle has been fixed to ensure precise positioning and on-set safety. The two sides of the fixture are also built with balance adjusting rails, enabling flexible adjustment of the balance position of the head, ensuring that the fixture remains neutral in terms of center of gravity when different accessories are mounted on it.
A 95° beam angle makes it suitable for lighting large areas even without a modifier, while smooth dimming, especially in controlling brightness from 0.0% to 0.1%, is essential for fade in/out lighting. A newly added High Speed Mode allows the Evoke 5000B to switch from PWM to DC, maintaining stable and consistent brightness during high-frame-rate shooting. Even at over 10,000 frames, Nanlux says it delivers a smooth, flicker-free performance.
The cooling system includes Smart, Full Speed, Low Speed, Off, and Pause modes, allowing users to switch between them based on their needs. The Smart mode automatically adjusts the fan speed according to the ambient temperature. In this mode, the noise level is only 44 dBA.
On-board control is via three knobs, four buttons, and a 4.3-inch display screen. A new-generation UI provides a straightforward menu and user-friendly icons, allowing users to quickly locate the needed options and adjust parameters. There is also an extension port allowing control by an equally new and equally IP66-rated wired controller, DMX/RDM control, two LAN ports supporting Art-Net/sACN control over Ethernet for control of multiple fixtures, a built-in LumenRadio TimoTwo module for CRMX control, and a standard optional remote controller. The light can also be controlled by the Nanlink App 2.0 through its built-in Bluetooth module.
And lastly, because the Evoke 5000B is the same size as the Evoke 2400B, it is compatible with most of the accessories for the existing light. This means the Evoke 5000B can integrate into the existing accessory ecosystem and, when combined with accessories like the Fresnel, reflector, parallel beam reflector, and softbox, can produce a variety of lighting effects.
This reduces the accessory investment required when purchasing a new light fixture.
Additionally, a new larger motorized Fresnel lens, a motorized yoke, and a new wired controller tailored specifically for the Evoke 5000B are also being introduced.
Pricing and availability
None of this is cheap, as you would expect. The Evoke 5000B starts at $14,800, with a flight-cased version at $15,500. Pre-orders are open now and it will ship in March.
