Nanlite has introduced the Alien 150C and 300C, a pair of compact LED panels that boast advanced color mixing, improved low-end dimming, and a useful IP55 rating for the lamp head.

The new Nanlite Alien 150C weighs just 3.6 kg (7.94 lb) , while the Alien 300C comes in at 6.6 kg (14.55 lb), representing what the company says are significant weight reductions of 13% and 45% respectively compared to similar products on the market.

Both models incorporate alternately laid and rotated WW and RGB light beads, resulting in a bright, even beam. The Alien 150C offers an illumination area of 24.6×18cm, while the 300C covers 36×24.8cm. Paired with the included  pop-up softbox (other fittings such as barn doors are available), the Aliens should deliver soft, even lighting.

They should do that in all conditions too. The Aliens have been designed so that there is a separate metal lamp head with an IP55 rating, while the lights ship with a specially designed rain cover for the control unit.

Both models offer a wide color temperature range from 2700K to 12000K, along with ±150 G/M adjustment capabilities. Adjustable modes available are:

CCT Mode: Reproduces various colors of light with a color temperature range of 2700K to 12000K and ±150 green/magenta adjustments.

HSI Mode: Allows direct and fast adjustment of hue, saturation, and intensity, offering a wide  election of 36,000 colors.

RGBW Mode: Allows the user to independently select the values of the red, green, blue, and white channels, creating a wide range of color combinations.

XY Coordinates: Achieves precise color control by adjusting the values of XY coordinates within the selected zone of the CIE 1931 color space.

Gel Mode: Includes 460 gels from the brands LEE and ROSCO, with the option to switch the base CCT, reproducing the lighting effects of traditional physical gels.

Effect Mode: Offers 15 effects, each with customizable parameters, creating immersive lighting effects.

Nanlite’s new-generation user interface has been integrated into the Alien series, offering a streamlined experience with intuitive icons and a redesigned menu layout. A preset function allows users to quickly save and recall settings. The Alien series is also compatible with the Nanlink App 2.0, CRMX, DMX/RDM, and also ships with a remote. It offers three dimming methods, with options for 0.1% increments, 1% increments, and specific adjustments for low brightness levels, as well as seven built-in DMX dimming curves and fifteen DMX modes.

Both lights feature a fully covered aluminum alloy heat sink and powerful airflow from two fans, allowing for a reduction in the size and weight of the cooling system. The lights can be connected to AC/DC power sources or powered by 14.4V-14.8V or 26V-28V batteries, making them suitable for remote operations. The Alien 150C requires just one V-mount battery, while the 300C supports the mixed use of batteries with different voltages. Both models allow hot swapping between power sources without interrupting production.
