Free roaming pedestals have been part of the TV studio landscape for decades, but MRMC's Roaming Pedestal System automates them, adds collision avoidance, and more.
The RPS (Roaming Pedestal System), is a next-generation free-roaming camera platform designed for high-end broadcast studios that ditches the tracks. Multiple units can operate safely within a studio with intelligent choreography and built-in collision avoidance. Pedestals can be configured with either a lift column or an articulated arm to suit different production needs, while an advanced scanning system enables FreeD positional output, allowing effortless integration into virtual environments. And, frankly, we really want to see some footage of it in use.
Elsewhere, MRMC is big into demonstrations this year. A dedicated kitchen-TV studio-style area featuring live demonstrations will be set up to highlight the synergy between studio robotics and virtual production, while there's also going to be a mini studio designed for high-impact, slow-motion food cinematography. Then there's a live staging where attendees can get hands-on with the kit. Featured equipment includes the Slidekamera by MRMC Atlas and Bullhead, Nikon SR-1 (Small Robotics Head) on an Orion Slider, and the Cinebot Mini on Track for cinema applications.
Of course, now that both companies are owned by Nikon, many of the MRMC products will be demonstrated in conjunction with RED cameras such as the V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X. This includes a showcase of the combination of the RED KOMODO-X and MRMC SR-1 pan-tilt head which will highlight the activity at the co-branded booth.
