Matrox Video to debut KMLync keyboard and mouse switch at NAB Show New York

1 minute read

Matrox Video’s new KMLync lets users control multiple systems, or Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM devices, from a central location through a single keyboard/mouse setup.

Available as a stand-alone keyboard and mouse switch or as an accessory to the Extio 3 IP KVM product line, Matrox Video says that the new KMLync enables seamless mouse switching between up to four different input sources (KVM or other). What’s more, combined with the company’s Extio 3 IP KVM extenders, it enables new workflows for larger multimonitor workspaces — a quad 4Kp60 monitor setup or up to sixteen 1080p60 monitors.

The result is that all content on multiple monitors will feel like one large, extended desktop, with fewer keyboard and mouse sets cluttering desks and a far more ergonomic workflow. When paired with Extio 3 IP KVM receivers, system integrators can offer additional multimonitor configurations that are easily scalable over a 1GbE networking infrastructure.

Unsurprisingly, the product is aimed at a few different markets. But in this space, it’s the sort of technology that can find a home in TV studios, editing/post-production workspaces, and OB trucks. As such, expect to find it on show at Matrox Video’s Booth 559 at this week’s NAB Show New York, alongside the latest production and contribution solutions; ST 2110 conversion, monitoring, and management; and a look at Matrox ORIGIN, the award-winning development framework that manufacturers and broadcaster-developers can use to build workflows for Tier 1 live production in the cloud.

"KMLync is available for anyone who needs a hardware solution to control multiple systems with one keyboard and mouse set,” says Caroline Injoyan, business development manager at Matrox Video. “It's also a great tool for our KVM system integrators and clients looking to augment the capabilities of Extio 3-powered remote workspaces. It easily binds Extio 3 devices together and enables new workflows to improve situational awareness. Users can work across more screens, monitor more sources, and simply control them with one keyboard and mouse."

KMLync will begin shipping in the fourth quarter. Pricing is currently TBA.
