LumaFusion 5.0 is finally here, and the multitrack mobile video editor has plenty of new features, including SpeedRamping, Enhanced Keyframing, tons of new transitions, Advanced Bezier Curves, and more.
LumaTouch, creator of LumaFusion, previewed version 5.0 back in April 2024 at NAB and it’s available now. There are some cool new features and updates, led by Speed Ramping and Enhanced Keyframing, which are part of a separate, in-app purchase.
- Speed Ramping: Use keyframes to create cool speed ramps quickly with touchscreen.
- Speed presets make it easy to get started.
- Freeze Clip at the exact point you want; can be found in the Speed Editor.
- Control the speed and ramping to set constant, variable, and more.
- Velocity and Ease Graphs help with controlling things.
- Bézier curve path editor helps with motion for video, images, and effects.
- Independent Size, Position, and Rotation Controls.
- Add grids such as title and action safe plus horizontal for both internal and external previews.
- Dozens of new transitions.
- The Effects Editor features an adjustable UI.
- And a lot more.
It may seem overwhelming at first when using LumaFusion, especially if you’re new to the app or just want to learn about new features. A really cool feature is the What’s Happening panel (newly improved) that helps you find tutorials in their extensive library. Pricing, availability, and more
If you already have a copy of LumaFusion, the upgrade to version 5.0 is free. However, there’s a one-time purchase of $19.99 to get the new Enhanced Keyframing and Speed Ramping features. A new purchase is only $29.99 and is available at the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, and Samsung Galaxy Store (plus the in-app purchase of $19.99). It’s refreshing that you don’t need to pay for a subscription to use it.
LumaFusion is a multi-award winning and the number one mobile NLE for a reason: It has desktop-level features and capabilities and is easy and intuitive to use. The developers are filmmakers, content creators, and video editors, so they have a deep understanding of what mobile filmmakers are looking for in an app. I use LumaFusion (and Final Cut Pro) whenever I edit videos for camera app reviews. It’s very powerful.
