Logitech MX Creative Console: a new customisable console to speed up editing

Featuring an impressively deep integration with the Adobe ecosystem at launch, the $199 Logitech MX Creative Console promises to speed up all your editing workflows.

Back in July last year, Logitech bought Finnish specialist custom console maker Loupedeck. After a year of effort it has just released the new MX Creative Console as a result, which has been designed specifically to speed up workflows when working with creative software.

It’s not an all-in-one solution but comes in two separate parts: a keypad with dynamic display keys to access and trigger the most important actions, and a customizable dialpad that serves as a smart analog navigation controller. In conjunction with the free Logi Options+ software , the two combine to offer seamless app integration across Windows and Mac, with customizable controls, plugins, profiles, and icons available through the Logi Marketplace.

At launch it’s firmly dialled into the Adobe ecosystem and that’s where you’re going to find the most benefit. While Logitech says the Logi Options+ software will continue to expand its capabilities with new features and plugins for more apps (and indeed you can use it out of the box with the likes of Resolve), it kicks off with deep integration through tailored plugins for Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Illustrator.

Indeed, each console comes with a complimentary three-month Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps membership, which is not a bad freebie at all.

The keypad features nine customisable keys whose display changes depending on the software you’re using with it, which is where that integration with Adobe really shines as the icons switch from program to program. More will be good, but currently the native apps list is limited beyond Adobe to the likes of Apple Music, Spotify, Discord, and Zoom. You can set up additional ‘pages’ of keys to expand the number of accessible shortcuts to 18, 27 etc.

The keypad connects to your computer via USB-C, while the battery-powered dialpad, whose functionality also changes from app to app, goes the Bluetooth route.

Pricing and availability

MX Creative Console is available in pale grey and graphite and is available for pre-order today. Shipping will start 14 October. Price is $199 and it is available at www.logitech.com and at other global retailers

Logitech has produced by our reckoning at least 18 different YouTube video for the MX which you can see here. We’ve chosen the short, snappy one about working with Adobe Premiere Pro.
