NAB 2024 may have already passed, but there were so many new lenses unveiled, some of the news fell through the virtual cracks. We’ll take a look at new wide-angle zoom G Lens from Sony, more Sirui Nightcrawler lenses, rehoused GL Optics Ruben lenses, and much more.
For all you Sony users out there, there's a new G Lens FE available, a wide-angle, large aperture zoom with a focal length of 16-25mm F2.8 G. It features a quality yet lightweight build, high resolution, an 11-blade circular aperture, excellent bokeh, super fast and quiet autofocus (AF), E mount, and the ability to shoot close-up.
This is a fast Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G wide-angle zoom lens, and gives another great option for those with a Sony camera. The lens will retail for $1,199.99 USD. You can get more details at Sony's website.
Sirui introduced the Nightwalker line of cinema lenses during the summer of 2023, featuring a variety of affordable, high quality cine prime lenses (S35 / APS-C). A set of fast, T1.2 lenses at 24mm, 35mm, and 55mm cost only $999. They’ve now unveiled two more lenses, a 16mm and a 75mm, offering a wide variety of focal lengths.
The 16mm and 75mm SIRUI Nightwalker lenses have the same size and overall weight as the previously released versions, and are also fast at T1.2. The filter thread of all lenses is 67mm. Mounts include L, Canon RF, Sony E, FUJIFILM X, and MFT. You can get them in metal grey or black.
SIRUI launched a new Indiegogo campaign for the 16mm and 75mm Nightwalker lenses, with special early bird pricing of $679 USD for both lenses (in a kit), 14% off. Check it out here. And learn more about the other Nightwalker lenses at SIRUI’s site.
Speaking of new lenses added to a popular line, DZOFILM has unveiled new anamorphic prime lenses to its PAVO 2x set, the Macro 65mm T2.8, 135mm T2.5, and 180mm T2.8.
The new lenses are part of the DZOFILM PAVO 2x Anamorphic Macros featuring 28mm, 32mm, 40mm, 55mm, 75mm, and 100mm focal lengths. That is a very complete set, now spanning from 28mm all the way to 180mm.

There are a few new lenses introduced by VILTROX, the LUNA 30-300mm T4.0 zoom and the EPIC 100mm T2 and 25mm T2 1.33x anamorphic full-frame prime cinema lenses.
The VILTROX LUNA 30-300mm features a constant T4.0 aperture, slightly slower than the two EPIC primes, but this is quite the focal length and doesn't require swapping multiple lenses. It's perfect for filming sports, nature, and even creative projects.
The LUNA 30-300mm T4.0 zoom lens will retail for $65,000 USD; while it seems very expensive, this is a competitive price for this type of lens and perfect for a rental house.
The EPIC 100mm T2 and 25mm T2 1.33x anamorphic full-frame prime lenses were unveiled at NAB 2024 and will be a part of the EPIC lineup which includes the 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm T2 lenses. That's a pretty complete line of fast anamorphic primes.
Fast anamorphic prime lenses are highly valuable, and these support PL, E, and L mounts. Pricing for the EPIC 100mm T2 and 25mm T2 1.33x is $3,999 USD each or $7,759 USD for both. If you'd like to buy the entire set, it'll set you back $17,299 USD. Learn more about these and their other lens options at their site.
This is insanely cool: GL OPTICS has rehoused an old and highly sought after Soviet Rubin-1 lens. It features a focal length of 37-80mm, 14 elements in 11 groups, PL mount (interchangeable), parfocal design, new round iris, front size of 136mm, and an inner focus design. The Rubin-1 was part of the Zenit-6 camera kit.
It isn’t exactly affordable; the cost for the Rubin-1 rehoused lens from GL OPTICS is $7,500 USD. You can learn more here.
I have friends who scour the web (mostly used camera sites and eBay) to buy old Soviet-era cameras and lenses. You can find a Zenit-6 for about $100 to $200.
Now we come to the final bit of lens news, Laowa has added additional mounts for some of their wide-angle lenses, DL and XCD. The focal lengths with the new mounts are DL: 11mm f/4.5 FF RL, 14mm f/4 FF RL Zero-D; XCD: 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift, 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D, and 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift.
Get all the details on these wide-angle lenses with new (and existing) mounts on Laowa's website.
We really ran the gamut of lenses, everything from zoom, including ultra zoom, to cinema prime and anamorphic lenses. NAB 2024 was definitely one for the books, and the glass that was announced really has something for everyone.
