Laowa has announced a ton of new glass focusing on cine and broadcast lenses.
New lenses from Laowa include the Sword Full Frame Macro Cine Series, the Ultima Broadcast Zoom for 8K, and more options added to Laowa's popular Nanomorph series.
Sword Full Frame Macro Cine Series
This new series of full frame macro cine glass from Laowa features up to 2X magnification and are perfect for filming up close (think nature cinematography). They will include six lenses (focal lengths and more below) and come with an ARRI PL mount and you'll be able to purchase Canon EF and mirrorless bayonets separately.- 15mm T4.1 1X

Ultima 12-120mm T4 for S35 8K Broadcast Zoom Lens
Laowa's first 8K broadcast lens, the Ultima 12-120mm T4 for S35 features a constant T4 aperture and is great for ENG and EFP filming, especially run-and-gun style. You can also pair it with a MOVCAM servo unit to control the focus, zoom, and aperture. It also features an ARRI PL mount and Laowa says they may also offer a version of the Ultima with a B4 mount, but that depends on market demand.Nanomorph LF 1.5X Anamorphic Series
If the Laowa Nanomorph sounds familiar, that's because these S35 1.5X anamorphic lenses are a big hit. There are focal lengths (see below) at a constant T2.9, and will cover an ARRI ALEXA LF sensor in Open Gate format. Mounts include ARRI PL and Canon EF, along with some mirrorless options. They weigh roughly 2.2 lbs. (1kg) and the wider lenses can focus up to 1.7 inches (49cm). Color options include blue, silver, and amber flare.- 32mm T2.9 1.5X

Macro Anamorphic Lens - Nanomorph 60mm for S35
Now you can add a macro anamorphic lens to your Nanomorph collection. This one is 60mm 1.5X and great for S35. It allows for a very close focusing distance of 9.45 inches and up to 0.5X magnification ratio. No word yet on the aperture. There are blue, amber, and silver flare options available. Supported mounts include ARRI PL and Canon EF, plus there will be some mirrorless bayonet options.
All in all, there’s some pretty interesting glass listed above from Laowa, especially the additional focal lengths being added to the Nanomorph series. The Ultima 12-120mm 8K broadcast zoom lens also looks like a winner.
The lenses will be released between this quarter (Q3 2024) and early next year (Q1 2025), but no word on pricing and some other details, so keep an eye on both the Venus Lens and Laowa Cinema Lens websites and socials for more. And, of course, stay tuned to RedShark News for more IBC2024 coverage!
