Venus Optics' new Laowa Sword Macro Full Frame Cine series offers six macro lenses for $1499 each.
The Laowa Sword Macro Full Frame Cine series is a new collection of macro cine lenses which Venus Optics says is “designed for everyone.”
The lineup spans from wide-angle 15mm, 25mm, and 35mm lenses to longer focal lengths of 60mm, 100mm, and 180mm, providing six lenses that aim to be a comprehensive set for all shooting scenarios.
Each lens in the series covers full-frame formats and weighs in at under 1kg (2.2lbs), making them among the lightest on the market and ensuring ease of use.
Laowa also says the Sword series also excels in chromatic aberration control, minimizing both in-focus and out-of-focus longitudinal CA to save time in post-production.
The magnification ratios are impressive: 1:1 on the 15mm lens and 2:1 on the 60mm and 100mm lenses. This will enable cinematographers can capture intricate details with minimal working distances.
Pricing and availability
The Sword series is available to order in 15/25/35/60/100/180mm from today. Sword is by default PL but Laowa offers additional EF, E, Z, RF, and L mount bayonets for purchase separately and they are priced at $1499 each. You can also pick up a four lens set (25/35/60/100mm) for $5699 and all six for $7999.
