As always, Matrox Video had some new stuff on its stand at IBC that will quickly become part of the glue that holds a substantial amount of the industry together.
We start with Technical Marketing Manager, Dan Maloney.
"On the new product front, we have something called Matrox Vion," he explains. "This is an IP to IP video gateway. It allows us to convert from NDI, SRT, 2110, and IPMX to other IP formats, again, namely the NDI and SRT workflows. We could also encode directly from SDI or HDMI, but ultimately, you no longer need to take one video format from one IP format to the next through baseband. We convert directly. This allows us to bridge SRT islands of video with 2110 islands of video, or NDI productions. Those can all interoperate now with the help of our Vion video IP gateway."
There's more too, as you can see below. And make sure you keep going to the end where Business Development Manager, Caroline Injoyan, introduces the Avio 2. "This is the first IP KVM solution that is based on open standards," she explains. "It does ST2110, IPMX, and is NMOS aware. It supports 4K60, 4:4:4 uncompressed with almost near zero latency. You get amazing image quality, video quality, and really clean and fast switching."
She demos that below, moving impressively quickly between sources via keyboard hotkeys. Take a look.
