GODOX displayed smarter lighting solutions at NAB 2025, with a focus on power, portability and real-world usability.
We caught up with Jameson Brooks at the GODOX booth at NAB 2025, where he introduced a wide range of new lighting tools built with working filmmakers in mind. From high-output LEDs to inflatable mats and travel-friendly flex lights, the theme this year is practical innovation.
The headline act is the KNOWLED MG6K, a powerful LED fixture designed to deliver output comparable to a 6K HMI. At around 5000 watts of equivalent power, it’s built for serious jobs but has been slimmed down for easier solo handling. “Even the ballast is way lighter this year,” Jameson said. “I can pick it up with one arm.”
Also on display was the new BMI Max 16, a compact version of last year’s Max 90. It creates a narrow five-degree beam ideal for long-distance throws, whether you’re bouncing across a set or lighting from far off with precision.
For fast setups, the AM1600 inflatable light mat certainly stands out. Available in 4x4, 4x8, and 8x8 foot sizes, it houses the LED array within the inflatable structure itself — just pump it up and you’re ready to go.
Rounding things out were the updated RGB Flex Mats, which Brooks called his personal favourite. Lightweight, soft, and adaptable, they’re easy to mount just about anywhere. “Duct tape, Velcro, zip ties... whatever works,” he said.
