As the Fujifilm X-Summit's 'one more thing' announcement, the company showed some footage shot with its forthcoming GFX Eterna cinema camera.
While the announcement of the GFX100RF undoubtedly took centre stage in Prague today, there was an intriguing 'one more thing' type announcement at the back end of the presentation when Yuji Igarashi, Divisional Manager of Fujifilm's Professional Imaging Group, lifted a prototype GFX Eterna onto the table in front of him.
Safe to say, anticipation surrounding Fujifilm's first cinema camera is running high. Igarashi-san says that feedback has been overwhelming and the company has been working to meet customer expectations surrounding the new unit, using the prototype to film some brief scenes in Prague which you can see below.
"It showcases the rich tonality and three dimensional feel that only a large format camera can deliver," he says of the 20 seconds or so of footage. "We will accelerate the development for the official launch so please stay tuned for official updates."
Hopefully that means it is still on track for a planned 2025 release as originally stated. Stay tuned indeed...
