Digital Anarchy has updated the popular Transcriptive Rough Cutter, adding a new Premium Option for Premiere Pro users which promises to deliver faster and more accurate transcripts. This is especially useful for those on tight deadlines, including journalists, producers, and video editors.
Transcriptive Rough Cutter ver. 3.1 offers speed and accuracy improvements, which is extremely important to keep things moving, whether you're editing a documentary or news segment, or perhaps writing an article based on an interview.
Some of the improvements in the updated Transcriptive Rough Cutter include:
Numbers are always thrown out when software updates happen, including 'an X-percent increase in speed.' That's all well and good, but how exactly will that help a producer, editor, or journalist trying to get their project completed in a hurry? Well, Jim Tierney, Digital Anarchy's President, explains:
“A performance gain of 5% may not sound significant on the surface, but when it comes to transcriptions, every 1% of additional accuracy means roughly 15% less incorrect words," Tierney said. "And every additional 1% in accuracy means 4 minutes less clean up time for a 30 minute clip."
I bolded that last quote, because how many of you have relied on transcription software that isn't always accurate for a variety of reasons? Perhaps the recording didn't come out as well, the subject was talking quickly, or maybe they were leaning back while on a speaker phone? That means more time cleaning up the transcript before you get to editing or writing.
For producers, journalists, and editors, Transcriptive Rough Cutter's Premium Option is worth its weight in gold to save time with a fast and accurate transcription.
If you're not using Premiere Pro, you can upload your audio and video to Transcriptive's site, which will go to work on transcribing the project. The premium option costs 15 cents per minute (U.S.) for pay-as-you-go, or 12 cents/minute if you go with the prepaid minutes option.
