Creamsource has launched Slyyd, which it says is a groundbreaking – and free – lighting control iOS app that could change the way professionals manage and control DMX-based lighting systems.
Rather than piling on more and more features into yet another bloatware lighting control app, Slyyd strips a lot of what you find in them away. Certainly it's come up with an arresting tagline for introducing what it's up to, saying Slyd is aimed at "people who control light, not for people who want to spend their day configuring how they control light."
Amen to that.
"Unlike other lighting control systems burdened with unnecessary features and complexity – because we all know that you really don’t need 99% of every DMX mode ever created, bloated with the tens of layers of menus that come with them – Slyyd focuses on what truly matters: efficiency, reliability, and creative freedom," says the company.
Slyyd has been designed pretty much for simplicity, speed, and precision, offering a streamlined interface and features that eliminate the frustrations commonly associated with overly complex and cluttered lighting control systems. It empowers users to achieve flawless color matching and intelligent color communication (e.g., RGB, xy, CCT) via user-friendly features like drag-and-drop patching and smart auto-configuration, which optimizes setups instantly. Plus, it also rather handily features an undo button, meaning any mistakes can be corrected in a snap.
That's just the start too. Creamsource will introduce advanced FX Modes and Cues to Slyyd, ensuring users have access to fully functional, top-tier tools in future updates. "These updates will be released when they are perfect," says the company, which you can tell is rather enjoying itself with this. "Until then, you’ll just have to make do with a control system that actually works the way you want it to work."
Slyyd is available now as a free download from the Apple Store, including pro-level features for those demanding absolute control.
