Creamsource has announced a brand new fast rigging system for its Vortex series of lights, along with a now customary impressive promo video!
First let's talk about the new rigging system, since it would be easy to get distracted by the rather impressively shot promo. The system, called LNX, and pronounced "Lynx" according to Creamsource, is "designed to bring consistency and cohesiveness to a historically disordered aspect of lighting."
The system simplifies rigging and cabling by using a series of purpose-built clamps and pins. The system lets rigging crews quickly assemble aligned arrays of Vortex fixtures with minimal gap between units. The system utilises multiple latches and auto-locking features to ensure the safety of operators and anyone under the rig. It might not be the sexiest of subjects, but it's an extremely important one, and it is good to see this often overlooked aspect of lighting being thought about seriously.
According to Creamsource, the system is designed to withstand heavy usage, relocation, high levels of vibration and wind loading.
Creamsource stated in its announcement PR, "Rigging presents crews with differing, unique challenges every day,” says Creamsource CEO Tama Berkeljon. “For all the improvements in hardware and software over the last several decades, Rigging Gaffers have had to take a hodgepodge approach to rigging multiple fixtures, relying on their own ingenuity and creative solutions to get up and running. With LNX, we’re streamlining and standardizing that process among all Vortex fixtures so that Rigging Gaffers can rig quickly and safely while focusing on the creative aspects of lighting."
If you want to see the LNX in action, visit Creamsource at booth 453 at Cinegear 2022. Existing Vortex8 owners are eligible to receive a upgrade to equip their fixtures with the LNX system. Additional information on the Vortex8 upgrade program can be found here.
The price and shipping date is to be announced. Right, now for that video...
