Camera Foundry launches CineBack for Canon R5c, R5, and R6
1:57

Camera Foundry expands its growing CineBack range with a new model that fits the Canon R5c, R5, and R6.

The CineBack is a neat accessory from Camera Foundry designed to enhance the capabilities of Canon R5c, R5, and R6 cameras by basically turning them into box cameras. It’s a modular attachment that bolts onto the back of specific Tilta and SmallRig camera cages, providing a range of functionality usually found in high-end cinema cameras and different form factors.

That includes a V-Mount Battery Plate, a Rotating D-Tap Splitter with four outputs, improved power management (ie a power switch), a screen side mount allowing you to use the camera screen in cine mode whether open or closed, top and bottom cheese plates for mounting points for accessories and rigging gear, and built-in cable routing and a cable management door.

There are some optional accessories on the menu too. For extended functionality, users can power their cameras directly from the CineBack's D-Tap jacks using either a D-Tap to FZ100 Dummy Battery or a D-Tap to USB-C cable with Power Delivery.

Weight is 40 oz (1130 grams), and its dimensions without the camera are 200x136x108 mm (7.87x5.35x4.25 inches).

As a caveat this model is not compatible with the R6 Mark II, and compatibility with the R5 Mark II is yet to be confirmed. However, the company is good at responding to demand. It already makes similar cage extensions for the Sony a7, FX3 and FX30; more are on the way for the Sony ZV-E1, a6700, Fujifilm XH2s, and Panasonic S5 IIX; and it says it’s open to producing an AB Gold Mount version of this one if there's sufficient demand from users.

Pricing is $339 and availability is immediate, though it is manufactured in small batches.
