Get your printer primed and ready, as Blackmagic has released its official Beginner’s Guide to DaVinci Resolve 19.
When it comes to training materials, the general rule of thumb is that more is always better. And if it comes from the horses' mouth, so to speak, then that's even more valuable. So, brief drum roll please for the appearance of the official release of Blackmagic's The Beginner’s Guide to DaVinci Resolve 19.
This step by step training guide is designed for both new and existing users. Using a project-based approach of downloadable files, it not only walks users through how to use the editing tools, but also how to grade your material using DaVinci Resolve’s color correction tools, enhance soundtracks with the Fairlight page, and build custom visual effects using the Fusion page.
Here's the blurb regarding what you'll learn:
Now you can, of course, just order the book off of Amazon (other retailers are available) and part with your $60 or so. Or you can just download the PDF yourself for free. If you're doing that and thinking about printing it out, you might want to contemplate the fact that the book comes in at a fairly Brobdingnagian 680 pages. Depending on the state of your ink cartridge, it might end up cheaper to just buy it. But, reading it off a screen will remain the most sustainable and cost-effective options as always.
Older versions of the guide are available, and expand the number of languages from English to include Chinese, French, and Japanese, so it's reasonable to expect this Resolve 19 version to do the same in the coming months. And, of course, caveat emptor in that, if things go as they normally do, Blackmagic will announce Resolve 20 next month and likely release it later on in the year.
