BMD giveth and BMD taketh away. The ATEM Mini Pro now replaces the original ATEM Mini as a more powerful entry model in the ATEM Mini family of live production switchers and sees its price cut substantially to $295.
With immediate effect, Blackmagic Design has announced a new lower price for its well-regarded ATEM Mini Pro live production switchers. The ATEM Mini Pro is now reduced to $295 and the ATEM Mini Pro ISO is reduced to $495, all of which sweetens the news that the original ATEM Mini itself is being taken off the market
The company says that the reduction of $200 on the ATEM Mini Pro and $300 on the ATEM Mini Pro ISO, not far off half the price, has been made possible by efficiencies in manufacturing.
Judging from a quick look around various resellers on both sides of the Atlantic it's taking a while for the reductions to percolate through. But BMD reassures as that it is working behind the scenes to make sure those reductions get passed on as soon as possible and, when it does, it's one of those rare times when you genuinely do get more for less. The Pro range has all the features of the Mini, plus the hardware streaming engine, the ability to record the stream directly to USB flash disks in H.264, and support for recording to multiple disks.
The ISO model ramps this up further by allowing users to record multiple video streams, including clean feeds of all inputs and program, at the same time. Media pool images used are also saved with the video files. The ISO models also save a DaVinci Resolve project file, allowing users to open their live production as a video edit with all cuts, dissolves and media pool graphics.
"Since we released these models, we have been working hard to make improvements in our manufacturing processes to help reduce the cost of building the ATEM Mini family," said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. "This reduction of $200 on ATEM Mini Pro and $300 on ATEM Mini Pro ISO helps make these switchers more affordable for customers who want the power of built-in streaming and multiview to help share their knowledge and skills with a worldwide audience on YouTube, Facebook and more!"
