New firmware updates from Blackmagic Design add new functionality to Blackmagic Camera and Blackmagic Video Assist.

The latest firmware update from Blackmagic has added some new functionality for those shooting on Blackmagic cameras. It’s nothing ground-breaking, but the steady drip of new features over time adds up to a lot of innovation over the course of a year.

Here’s what has just been released in Camera 9.2.1 and Video Assist 3.18.

What's new in Blackmagic Camera 9.2.1 

This software update adds automatic brightness adjustments to Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor for thermal management in extreme temperature conditions, as well improving the stability of Bluetooth connectivity for Blackmagic PYXIS 6K where control may be lost when switching from playback to record.

What's new in Blackmagic Video Assist 3.18

The following models have new features.

  • Blackmagic Video Assist 5” 12G HDR
  • Blackmagic Video Assist 7” 12G HDR

Both gain Blackmagic RAW recording from Panasonic UB10 alongside general performance and stability improvements.
