The Blackmagic Camera app for Android (well, in practice Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phones) has been given an update to v1.1.
Based on the same operating system as Blackmagic Design’s digital film cameras, the Blackmagic Camera app for Android gives Android content creators the same tools that are used by Blackmagic camera operators in feature films, television and documentaries.
New features in the v1.1 release include quite a bit actually.
- HDMI monitoring.
- 3D LUTs for recording and monitoring.
- Pull focus transition controls.
- Blackmagic Cloud organizations.
- Login account within Blackmagic Cloud.
- Ability to dim screen while recording.
- Optional image noise reduction.
- Optional image sharpening.
- Audio level pop-up.
- Japanese translations.
- Ability to not generate a proxy while recording.
- Save clips to any location including external storage.
- General performance and improvements.
It took a while coming, the iOS version was released in 2023, but the Blackmagic Camera app for Android is now available on Google Play and is happily free of charge.
