It's another week and another new camera that can record ProRes RAW. This time it's the turn of two, the Fujifilm GFX100 and the Sigma fp.

It does really feel as if every week now there's a new camera that can record ProRes RAW. The Fujifilm GFX100 has of course had the feature enabled within its own systems already. However it takes two to Tango, and so it has taken until this point for the feature to be usable with Atomos finalising its firmware for the Ninja V.
The firmware allows the recording of 4K ProRes RAW footage up to 30p, which at first glance appears limited compared to the 60p possibilities on other cameras. Until you consider that the GFX100 is a medium format camera. This makes it the first commercially available medium format RAW video recording camera on the market.
The new firmware is available here.
Meanwhile, take a look at Blacksands, shot by Rodney Charters ASC, below. Let us know what you think.
Just one more thing...
The GFX100 isn't the only camera to get the ProRes RAW treatment this week. Additionally the Sigma fp has been given the treatment too, but with one major difference. The Sigma fp can output raw over HDMI to the Ninja V in HD resolutions up to 120fps.
That makes the fp an ideal way to obtain very high quality slow motion in difficult to access situations. This could be as a crash cam, or for wildlife to name two applications.
Both updates are available from the Atomos website.
