Apple releases Final Cut Pro 11.1

Apple has just dropped the latest version of Final Cut Pro, 11.1 adding a few new features as well as clearing up a few bugs. Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.2 and Final Cut Camera also get overhauled.

Final Cut Pro 11.1 probably can't be considered a major release of Apple's in-house NLE, but it adds some interesting new features all the same while Cupertino gets on with the main task of fixing Siri.

As you would expect in 2025, some of that involves adding in AI features, but in rather a truncated manner compared to other platforms. Image Playground integration allows you to create custom images in seconds by combining concepts, text descriptions, and people from your photo library, and that's about it. And you're going to need an M1 or later machine to even do that.

Luckily, other new features are a bit more useful:

Adjustment clips - Apply color corrections and effects to an adjustment clip above the timeline to automatically apply them to a range of clips at once. .

Quantec Room Simulator effect - Use the Quantec QRS (Quantum Room Simulator) effect to create natural and transparent audio reverbs that simulate real acoustic spaces.

Workflow improvements - Move markers in the timeline by dragging them in a clip; rename audio effects in the inspector; use a new keyboard shortcut to show or hide the Magnetic Mask editor; reveal the source of a multicam angle or a synced clip in the browser.

And that's that. Meanwhile, elsewhere...
