Unmetered access to the complete Substance 3D Assets library means subscribers have access to the full collection of nearly 20,000 professional materials, models and lighting environments.
You get the feeling that Adobe is preparing a serious push on its Substance 3D interlinked offering of five apps for 3D design as the year goes on. It sits outside the scope of the normal Creative Cloud offering, instead allowing access to a range of tools at two monthly price points.
Adobe Substance 3D Texturing provides access to Substance 3D Painter, Designer and Sampler for $19.99 a month; while Adobe Substance 3D Collection adds the 3D Modeler and Stager into the mix for $49.99. Both tiers now get full access to the growing Substance 3D Assets library without having to manage how much they are consuming within a calendar month.
There’s a lot in the library too. There are 13,000 materials in three distinct categories: Surfaces that can be tiled across any surface; Decals, specialized materials perfect for adding details, wear and unique characteristics; and Atlases, collections of individual elements that can be scattered on surfaces to create more detailed materials.
These are joined by 6000 3D models that come production-ready in either .fbx or .glb formats with professionally unwrapped UVs; cleaned and optimized polygon counts; and organized sub-components with proper pivot points. And there is also a collection of 3D HDR Lights to choose from that offer independent control over individual light sources and adjustable parameters for temperature, intensity and color.
Perhaps one of the standout features of the library though is the degree of parametric customization that is built into it. As Adobe explains, each material includes built-in parameters that let you adjust attributes like color, surface finish, pattern scale and more — while maintaining photorealistic quality. This flexibility means a single material can be used as a jumping off point for generating countless variations.
“Unmetered access transforms how you work, letting you download assets on-demand for concept exploration and mood boarding while quickly iterating on designs with ready-to-use models and materials,” the company explains in a blog post. “You can maintain consistent quality from concept to final render and focus on creating without worrying about download limits. This freedom also opens opportunities to learn from professional material graphs and techniques, and experiment with infinite variations through parametric controls.”
