The $649 Cineview SE SDI and HDMI wireless TX/RX promises to be small in size, big on features.
Accsoon has taken the covers of its new CineView SE SDI wireless transmission system, billed as the company’s most powerful, most advanced SDI TX/RX system to date and the latest addition to the CineView line.
Solidly built from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy and featuring a fanless design for silent running, it’s entering the market at a fairly aggressive $649 and hoping to snag a decent proportion of the demand for affordably-priced SDI and HDMI wireless on-set and on-location monitoring solution for productions of all sizes.
The RX and TX units each have four removable antennas and a range of 366 metres (1200ft) using Dual-Band wireless technology that transmits the same image on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time. The receiver then intelligently identifies interference as it combines the two signals together as needed into a complete single stream. This, the company says, is inherently more stable than using wireless systems that hop between frequencies. The result is super robust, near real time transmission of HD video and audio that can reach the length of a football field and is not plagued with drop-outs and black screens. Screen lag is almost imperceptible too with an impressive latency of under 50ms.
The transmitter has both SDI and HDMI inputs, while the receiver naturally has SDI and HDMI outputs, both capable of frame rates up to 1080p 60fps. It even accepts SDI level A and B signals to cater for older cameras.
Both transmitter and receiver weigh in at just 210g each and are roughly the size of a pack of cards (105mm x 66mm x 32mm, excluding antennas). This makes it much more compact than the company’s previous CineEye 2S Pro model. The unit can be drive by a a single NP-F970 battery for up to 12 hours. Additionally, it can be powered via the DC input port (7.4V~16.8V) as well as a USB-C power source (5V).
Usefully, the CineView SE TX can be used with up to four other CineView RX units. It can also transmit to up to four iOS or Android devices running the Accsoon Go app, or any combination of RX units and smart devices, as long as the total number is four (for users wishing to use the CineView SE solely with iOS and Android devices the TX will also be available to purchase standalone without the RX).
Talking of which, new tools in the app include Smart Sharpening for more accurate focusing, Onion Skin Overlay for precise repetition of shots and improved LUT loading and recording. These add to the existing high-end features like Focus Peaking, Histogram and False Color. There is also a new ability to Multitask with the Go App on Split View when using a suitable iPad.
