Another of our videos shot on the IBC2024 show floor sees Richard Warburton, Director of Product at Symply provide us with tour of the company' latest products and explain why tape is still very much relevant in today's industry.
New to IBC this year is Symply's PRO XTL tape library. As Richard Warburton, Director of Product explains, the company has become the go-to supplier of LTO-tape standalone storage solutions for quite some while now, but this adds something new to its bow.
"We had a huge amount of requests from customers to say, well, actually, we love you guys. Your product's brilliant. You design and build the best enclosures and solutions out there. Why can't we buy a tape library from you? So, now we have a 1U 8 slot single drive library, we have a 2U 24 slot two drive library, we have a 3U 40 slot three drive library, and a 6U 80 slot six drive library."
What makes these unique is the ability for users to add integrated Thunderbolt or Ethernet connectivity within the tape library itself using a sled that goes into one of the drive slots and adds the connectivity with no additional backspace or PSUs needed.
And if that wasn't enough, we also get a look at Symply's on-premises private cloud object store, which has been designed as an alternative to public cloud services such as AWS. And Richard also presents the new 4-bay SPARK system, a compact and quiet RAID storage solution ranging from 24TB to 96TB. Take a look below and find out why Richard thinks tape is still so relevant to today's industry.
